"Oh okay, well it’s not just up to me. You can tell me stuff you like to do and maybe we’ll do that stuff to. I’m up for anything you want to do." It hit him that he hadn’t even asked her for her phone number. "So, uh.. what’s your phone number?"
That was straightforward. “Oh, hang on a sec.” She turned and grabbed a pen and notebook from her bag. She opened the notebook, scribbled her phone number, and tore that part of the page out. “Here, I promise it’s my real number.” She laughed, handing him the paper.
Coldplay - Til Kingdom Come
For you I’d wait ‘til kingdom come
Until my day, my day is done
And say you’ll come and set me free
Just say you’ll wait, you’ll wait for me
"Well, uh…um.." He tried to think of something. He’s never done something with a girl before. Honestly he’s never done anything with anyone besides his brother and mother. "We could uh, go see a movie, or maybe go to an arcade or something."
"Ok, either one is good for me, or if there’s anything else you come up with I’m sure that would work too. It doesn’t really matter to me what we do." She just liked the idea of spending more time with him.
"Oh no, it’s alright. I’m sometimes bad with names and faces. It usually takes me actually talking to someone to learn their name. Although you’ve probably already noticed I don’t do that very often." He laughed nervously. "Wow okay, this is getting kinda awkward. So uh, do you want to go do stuff with me sometime?" He felt like an idiot for the way that came out.
"Sure, I’d love to go do stuff with you. I don’t really have anyone to do things with anyway. Honestly, my cat is kinda my only friend. It’s so lame, I know." She laughed. "So, what kinda things would you want to do?"
(Suddenly comes to the realization that zoe and lucas are kinda like peter parker and gwen stacy
SCREECHES LOUDLY FROM THE CUTE )
Lucas couldn’t help but start laughing. He found what she said really funny. “Yeah, you have a point there. He’s probably so dumb that he had to cheat his way into middle school.” He took a moment to try to calm down from laughing so hard. “Oh yeah, my name’s Lucas by the way, what’s yours?”
Zoe was glad she managed to cheer him up. She laughed along with him, shaking her head. “I’m Zoe. I have to say I’m kinda surprised you don’t already know that since we have a few classes together. I mean, it’s probably because I don’t talk a whole lot in class but…you know what? Just forget all the stupid stuff I just said besides my name.”
"Yeah, I can’t take much more of it myself. I’d stand up to him, but I’m just not strong enough. Which is kinda why my brother takes over and deals with him. I still don’t get why I ended up being this guy’s favorite person to bully. I’ve never even done anything to him." He sighed.
"That’s what bullies do. They pick out who can’t fight back and take them down to feel better about themselves. He probably hates the fact that you’re so much smarter than he is. He’d probably still be held back in middle school if he didn’t bully people into doing the work for him."
He was nearly lost in his own thoughts until he heard her speak to him. He didn’t usually have people come over and talk to him and he didn’t know how to respond. He turned to look at her and nearly froze when he saw her. He recognized her from class and he’d always wanted to talk to her but was too afraid too. He tried to keep from spacing out. “Y-Yeah, I think I am.”
She sighed. “Good, I was worried since you looked pretty shaken up about it. That guy’s a real jerk, picking on someone just because he’s bigger and dumber. I can’t stand when people are like that.” She put her stuff on the table and sat down. “Honestly, I have a few choice words for him.”
